Rebuilding Children’s Education after the Earthquake

Learning from Education For All

Les Étoiles de Jemaa El Fna

(RSVP with suggested sliding scale donation, funds go to the EFA Global Giving Crisis Appeal)

Address: 36 Derb Fhal Zefriti, Medina, Marrakech 40000

This event will be in English and Arabic, depending on the dominant audience.

Join us in conversation with Education For All, who will be in attendance with some former students, as well as one of the house mothers of their boarding schools. We will be hearing from EFA on the history of their organisation and its goals as well as the challenges they face after the earthquake which damaged many of their schools. This conversation will allow us to ask questions about the role of education in High Atlas communities as well as to think and learn collectively about what is needed to repair, rebuild and protect the livelihoods of children affected by the earthquake. We welcome everyone to bring questions and ideas to the discussion, especially if you are involved in education.

Education For All (EFA) was established to help provide the opportunity of a secondary education for girls from the High Atlas mountain region. They build and run high-quality boarding houses for girls from 12–18. Everything is provided for free. They offer 3 nutritious meals a day, hot showers, cosy beds, access to computers, study support via an international volunteer programme and dedicated, local housemothers.
