Following a special creative event between our Harvest Festival Creative in Residence Soukayna and the trainees at Amal Women’s Centre which explored the place of storytelling in recipes, touching on lived experience, cultural heritage, personal memory, transmission and the sensorial aspects of food making, we invite you to join us at the centres special cooking class to learn how to make a Walnut cookie recipe collectively decided on by the group and Soukayna. You will be provided with all the necessary ingredients and be guided by the trainees in learning how to make the traditional recipe. The decision to work with walnuts comes from learning about Ighil community member Hassan Ait Maala who Amal has been supporting in their earthquake relief efforts in the region. Hassan and his community have been harvesting walnuts for commercial sale as a form of generating livelihoods. Please stay with us after the cookie class for a discussion and sharing led by Hassan, who will give us insight into Walnuts from the region, in which we will share cookies and tea in the Amal garden. And, you will have the opportunity to support Hassan and his community by purchasing some of the delicious walnuts.

We have a reserve of free tickets funded by Harvest for those who cannot make the fee. Please email us loren@global-diversity.org if you need a ticket.

Ticket price is 100dhs payable to Amal Women’s Centre via their website.
