The Water Will Carry Us explores the cultural landscapes of Morocco’s High Atlas through a photographic exhibition documenting the restoration of vital community structures including water mills, irrigation systems, agricultural terraces and nomadic shelters. Developed through GDF and partners Cultural Heritage Restoration Project in collaboration with local communities, knowledge holders and artisans, the project seeks to revive threatened cultural practices and strengthen the relationship between people, land and water, particularly in the aftermath of the 2023 El Haouz earthquake. At the heart of the exhibition is the first complete restoration of the Arg water mill, alongside photographs of terraces in Amskrajen and nomadic shelters in Tikhfist, offering a glimpse into the knowledge, craftsmanship, landscapes and communities sustaining this living heritage.
