Storytelling Circle with Conservation & Community Fellows

16 May, Our Land, Our Stories, Storytelling Circle with CCF fellows and Zouhair the Storyteller, Les Étoiles de Jemaa El Fna, 7.30pm to 9.30pm

The Conservation and Communities fellowship is an online and in-person fellowship for leaders of Global South grassroots organisations working at the intersection of biodiversity and livelihoods. It is led by Global Diversity Foundation in collaboration with Common Purpose and The Human Edge (previously known as Mowgli Mentoring). You can find more information on the programme here.

As part of the programme the fellows have been exploring creative writing and storytelling as a tool to share their conservation and community work which spans across the multiple realms of advocacy, science and research but all of which intersect at the crossroads of environmental work and the cultural landscapes surrounding this.

Our Land, Our Stories is a publication that brings together stories from 19 of the fellows. Editor Kyrah X says ““Our Land,” features stories set among lush vegetation and searing sun. These stories highlight the plight of endangered species and the challenges of working with communities affected by exploitative industries. The second section, named “Our Stories,” consists of narratives about the fellows’ efforts toward community empowerment and personal stories that detail the challenges faced by indigenous peoples”

This evening of storytelling will be held and introduced by Zouhair the Storyteller, the co-founding director of Marrakech International Storytelling Festival who will be sharing the ancestral practices of storytelling in Morocco.
