Seasonal Sculptural Food Installation and participatory gathering by Khial Nkhel

Khial Nkhel at The Garage invite us to reconsider what a garden can be, and how food-growing practices can take root within the urban landscape of Marrakech. Through her long-term relationship with the site, Alia Belgsir has developed a self-taught permaculture practice, transforming concrete infrastructure into a living garden and nurturing resilient plant life in the face of a harsh climate and ongoing urban development. Her work offers a portal into imagining different relationships with the city, grounded in care, adaptation and reciprocity. For this edition, Alia and collaborators from the Khial Nkhel collective present a seasonal food sculpture celebrating the October harvest and the work of regional regenerative producers. Installed as a space for reflection, celebration and gathering, the work takes place on Jummah, honouring the sacred rhythm and collective gatherings of a Friday.
