Nina responds to the themes of translocal solidarity and listening through her own work as a chef gardener and community educator.

Nina Anakar is a first generation Moroccan-American chef, herbalist, gardener, and writer. Since 2018, Ziza has been home to her traveling kitchen, apothecary and garden, where Nina creates nourishing, culturally rooted recipes alongside a research project rooted in retracing the lost stories of her lineage and rerooting in the healing practices that have been gifted to her through ancestral reconnection. Through the creation of and collaboration with gardens, schools and community organizations, she also facilitates hands-on knowledge shares and interactive cultural exchange with the networks she is a part of. Nina’s practice is rooted in the healing art of Moroccan cooking, as well as the ancient gardens and vital histories of the Southern Mediterranean Basin.
