‘Immersions’, cinema night with the young people of Dar Bellarj and Other Cinemas
Join us for a movie night in which the young people of Dar Bellarj share the films they directed and produced as part of their film making workshop with Other Cinemas in the Spring 25 edition.
Other Cinemas join us as 2025’s cultural practitioners in residence. During the spring edition they ran film making workshops with young people in Talat N’Yacoub as well as the young people of Dar Bellarj. They rejoin us this autumn to continue researching a potential work in progress.

Other Cinemas is a Brent-based (London, UK) project established by the filmmaking duo Turab Shah and Arwa Aburawa who saw the need for better and more equitable ways of film-making, sharing, and education. Seeing these three strands as inseparable, their work attempts to create a vital and holistic alternative to the industry that addresses its racial and class biases. Other Cinemas work is rooted in their diverse neighbourhoods in northwest London, some of the most racially diverse in the country but chronically underserved in terms of cultural provisions.
