Food Sovereignty Forum with Um Mami by Melting Pot

This one-day forum brings together people working across the Marrakech-Safi food system from rural and next-generation farmers to cooperative leaders, chefs, restaurant owners, trainees, entrepreneurs, policy makers and researchers. Co-created by Um Mami Melting Pot Morocco and Harvest Festival Marrakech, it offers a space for our shared networks to listen, connect and reflect on how we can build a more equitable food system rooted in food sovereignty, as defined by La Via Campesina. This first pilot of the food forum is a closed event but if you feel like it is space you would like to contribute to, we invite you to let us know why by contacting loren@global-diversity.org

The Melting Pot Foundation, established in 2011 by culinary entrepreneur Claus Meyer, co-founder of the world-renowned Noma, is a commercial non-profit with a charitable mission. Using food, culinary craftsmanship, and entrepreneurship as central tools, the Foundation works to improve the lives and opportunities of vulnerable and marginalized communities in Denmark and abroad. Um Mami by Melting Pot in Morocco, a collaboration with the Danish Arab Partnership Programme (DAPP) and Plan Børnefonden, is a culinary school that, while operating as a business, focuses on community impact—promoting culinary arts, entrepreneurship, and opportunities for Moroccan youth rather than profit.
