Farmer Said Akif, Heirloom Seeds workshop

Farmer Said Akif is an organic, heirloom seed producer operating in the Brachoua region, north east of Rabat. He is well versed in the different climates affecting Morocco and the different requirements of production zones across these climates.
Mr Akif will be discussing the importance of seed saving, working with heirloom varieties and delivering a practical workshop on seed sowing and the practice of seed saving. Mr Akif’s knowledge presents us with a unique opportunity to learn first hand from a practitioner working with heirloom varieties which is increasingly rare.
This is our second time working with Mr Akif, after his appreciated workshop with farmers at the seed fair during MBLA’s BioCultural Festival. This workshop is designed for the gifted mothers of Dar Bellarj with a limited number of spaces open to the public. Mr Akif’s work much like our own aims to work with people all along the food cycle, from farm to fork.

المزارع سعيد عاكف هو منتج بذور عضوية متوارثة يعمل في منطقة براشوة، شمال شرق الرباط. سعيد مُلِم بالمناخات المختلفة التي تؤثر على المغرب والمتطلبات المختلفة لمناطق الإنتاج في هذه المناخات.
سيناقش السيد سعيد أهمية ادخار البذور واستخدام الأصناف المتوارثة وتقديم ورشة عملية حول زرع البذور وممارسات حفظ البذور. تقدم لنا معرفة السيد سعيد فرصة فريدة للتعلم مباشرة من ممارس يستخدم أصناف متوارثة وهو أمر أصبح نادر بشكل متزايد.
وهذه هي المرة الثانية التي نعمل فيها مع السيد عاكف بعد الورشة التي قدمها مع المزارعين في معرض البذور خلال المهرجان البيوثقافي الذي نظمته الجمعية المغربية للتنوع البيولوجي وسبل العيش. تم تصميم هذه الورشة للأمهات الموهوبات بدار بلارج. عدد المقاعد المتاحة للجمهور محدودة.
يهدف عمل السيد عاكف إلى حد كبير مثل عملنا إلى العمل مع الناس على طول دورة الغذاء، من المزرعة إلى طاولة الأكل.
