An ear to river, live performance by Blanc Sceol

Expanding on, and drawing from the installation presented in the CATHARSIS exhibition, through this live, sonic performance Blanc Sceol invites us to attune to the story of a waterway in recovery from its heavy industrial past, and about to undergo drastic change with incoming development along its banks.

Through the acoustic and sonic practice of voicing the river, Blanc Sceol also seeks to listen and act with the river, finding new ways to tackle problems of neglect and misuse whilst navigating ancient acts of parliament and institutional backwaters to advocate on behalf of this waterway.

Join us to explore how to flow together, just as a river does.

Blanc Sceol are an artist duo whose practice has emerged and expanded throughout their years of working together across performance, composition, participatory actions, deep listening facilitation, and ritual gatherings. In 2018 they established, with others, Surge Cooperative, a collaborative effort to benevolently occupy the Channelsea river in London, as a place for people to live on the water, alongside acknowledging and living with the ecosystems already present.
