High Atlas Food Market – Yennayer Celebration

20-21 Jan, 11 am to 8 pm, High Atlas Food Market – Yennayer Celebration.

M Avenue Marrakech

This will be the 6th edition of the High Atlas Food Market. Organised collaboratively with our partner, the Moroccan Biodiversity and Livelihoods Association (MBLA), who works with us in supporting cooperatives through our sustainable livelihoods programmes.

Over 40 members from the community of cooperatives we work alongside will be hosting the market. They will be selling food, cosmetics and artisanal products from the High Atlas region. Each cooperative will have their own stand and will be present to share information about their work. The markets are a semi-annual event that aims to showcase the sustainable entrepreneurship emerging from the High Atlas region, biodiversity and the communities these uphold. Beyond this, the HA markets offer an opportunity for visitors to learn about supporting healthy lifestyles with high-quality local alternatives to the heavily processed food items we now find ourselves commonly using.

Alongside the market, there will be some demonstrations that bring to life Amazigh culture and traditional celebrations of the new year.

  • Prize Draw and quiz that engages market attendees on knowledge about traditional plants, culture and cuisine from the High Atlas. Winners will take home a basket of products from the market.
  • Traditional music of the High Atlas, Ahidouss and Ahouach 17:30 – 19:30 (every 30 minutes)
